Below we will look at how to set up a subscriber contract when you need to issue an invoice after the end of a month, dated to the day the contract was signed.
The client signed the contract on 24 March; the first invoice will be sent after one month has elapsed. As a guide for the setup, I am including the following diagram:
In the first step we identify the billing period — in our case this is 24 March – 23 April. In the subscriber contract, we fill in the dates on the Basic tab and also set the invoicing frequency (monthly = value 1) on the Generation Settings tab:
The second step focuses on the turnover day and month, which determine the start of the period. On the Generation Settings tab, we enter turnover day 24 and month 3:
In the next step we decide whether to invoice in arrears or in advance. Since we are charging for the elapsed period, we select the arrears option:
By selecting arrears, we have moved directly to step 5 in the diagram, which determines how many days before or after the period end we want to invoice. In this case we can set the value to 0 = the invoice will be issued once the monitored period has elapsed (24 April):
Now we will set up the contract line items. Go to the Standard Contract Items tab and click Add. Here you can either select an item from the price list (the name and selling price will be carried over automatically) or enter the billing subject manually using the Name field and checking the Manual Price and Manual VAT checkboxes:
The subscriber contract is now ready for generation. Save the contract and wait for the generation date, which we set to 24 April, then confirm using the button in the toolbar:
An invoice will be generated with an issue date of 24 April, covering the period 24 March – 23 April:

If you want to test whether your setup is correct, you can generate invoices earlier, review them, and then revert the status. You can learn how to do this in the Introductory article on subscriber contracts in practice.
