Locking an Accounting Period

How to Lock an Accounting Period and Individual Modules?

Written by Lenka Haringerová

Locking an accounting period is available only to users with the "administrator" or "accountant" role. This feature can be used, for example, when filing a tax return and you want to prevent other users from making changes in certain modules in the system. Two different locks cannot be set for the same period, even if different modules are selected.

Locking an accounting period:

  1. navigate to the Company – Period Locking menu,

  2. click the New button,

  3. in the From and To fields, enter the dates defining the start and end of the lock,

  4. in the Lock field, select the lock type – Locked except accountant (only users with the "accountant" role can access the selected modules), Locked (none of the users can access the selected modules),

  5. check the modules you want to lock; if you want to lock all of them, click the Select All button for convenience,

  6. click the Save and Close button.

Unlocking an accounting period:

  1. by navigating to the Company – Period Locking menu and setting the Lock field to Open, you allow only new records to be added to the selected modules within the given period,

  2. if you also want to unlock individual documents in the relevant form, each one must be unlocked separately by selecting it (or opening it) and clicking the Unlock button.
