Locking an Accounting Period

How to lock an accounting period and individual modules, what types of locks exist, and how to unlock periods and documents again.

Written by Lenka Haringerová

Locking a period prevents users from making changes to documents in the selected modules. This is useful, for example, after filing a tax return, when documents from that period should no longer be modified.

⚠️ Only users with the administrator or accountant role can lock periods. You cannot set two different locks for the same period — even if they apply to different modules.

Locking a period

  1. Go to Company → Period Locking.

  2. Click New.

  3. In the From and To fields, enter the period to be locked.

  4. In the Lock field, select the type of lock.

  5. Check the modules you want to lock. To select all of them, use the Select All button.

  6. Save by clicking Save and Close.

Lock types:

  • Locked except for accountant — only a user with the accountant role can access the checked modules

  • Locked — no user can access the checked modules

Unlocking a period

Unlocking takes place in two steps, and it's important to know that simply opening the lock is not enough:

  1. In the Company → Period Locking menu, set the Lock field to Open. This will allow new records to be entered again in the given modules for that period.

  2. Existing documents remain locked. Each of them must be unlocked individually — check it on the form or open it and click the Open Lock button.

ℹ️ Bulk unlocking of documents is not available in the application. If you need to unlock a large number of them, there is a way to do it via the API.
