Matching Foreign Currency Documents

How to match a foreign currency payment with a foreign currency issued invoice?

Written by Lenka Haringerová

Issued invoices

Bank
The bank entry (receipt) needs to be posted as, for example, 221/261 (money in transit).

Intermediate step

The bank value (in CZK) must be divided by the invoice value (in the foreign currency); this step yields the exchange rate.

Mutual offset

The next step is to create a mutual offset (manually). On the credit side, account 261 will be cleared — 395/261.

On the debit side of the mutual offset, fill in the relevant currency from the invoice, the exchange rate, and the invoice value (in the foreign currency).

The posting in this case will be 395/311.

After matching the offset with the relevant issued invoice, an exchange rate difference will be generated automatically (see the relationship screenshot below).
