Slow company backup creation and the associated large data volume

Slow backups are most commonly caused by a large volume of data, particularly for companies with a long history.

The wzurnal table also has a significant impact, as it records all changes made in the system since it was first used. This table can grow considerably over time and slow down the backup process.

Possible Solution

  • perform a cleanup of the wzurnal table in the database (contact the support line if you would like the cleanup to be carried out as a service intervention)

  • this will reduce the volume of data and speed up the backup process

Limitations

  • it is not possible to back up only a portion of the data (e.g. selected time periods only)

  • deleting wzurnal will cause you to lose the change history, which is used, for example, for error analysis or auditing
