Company Backup - WUI

How to back up company accounting data and restore it in the web interface?

Written by Petr Pech

For the long-term operation of ABRA Flexi, we recommend regularly backing up the data of your registered companies — just as you would with any other important data. Access to the company backup feature is determined by user permissions.

Creating a Current Backup

After connecting to a registered company, you can open the company selection at any time by clicking on the name of the currently open company.

Alternatively, you can click on your user profile and navigate to the company selection using the "My Companies" button.

Once the company selection is open, you can generate a backup for any company within the license that you have access to. This can be done using the "More Options" button on the right side of the row for the respective company.

After confirming the "Back Up Data" option, a backup file with the extension .winstrom-backup will be generated and saved to your default downloads folder.

Downloading an Automatically Created Cloud Backup

If you have chosen the cloud option for managing your license, you can download backups that are automatically created by us (up to 3 months back).

You can easily access the generated backups using the search function.

After opening the backup list, you will be presented with a list in which the most recent backups are available for download first.

Backups labeled "Available" can be downloaded immediately.

Backups labeled "Archived" can also be downloaded, but you will need to wait a moment while they are prepared for download. Clicking the "Archived" button will start preparing the backup for download. Once it is ready, the "Available" button will become active. The time required to prepare the backup depends primarily on its size.

In the "Older" section, you can find backups (typically archived) going back up to three months. The same applies here — preparing an archived backup for download may take additional time.

To download a backup, simply click the "Available" button. The backup will then be saved to the default downloads folder on your PC.

Sending a Company Backup to ABRA Flexi Support

You can share a cloud backup directly with our support team if they need it to identify an issue.

By clicking the link, you consent to the analysis of the backup data necessary to resolve the issue.

Restoring a Backup

Creating a backup would be pointless if we couldn't restore it. Restoring a backup is a very straightforward process.

A backup file generated using the procedures described above can easily be restored from the company selection screen.

You can access it either by clicking on the company name or through the user profile. The two screenshots below illustrate both methods.

Once the company selection is open, use the "Restore Data" button.

A window for restoring company data will open. Drag and drop the backup file into the window, or click to browse and select it.

Next, fill in the required details, such as the company name, and in the advanced options, specify whether this is a production or test company.

Production Company

  • The database used for live accounting records.

Test Company

  • The database used for testing purposes. If you need to try out certain processes before applying them in your production company, restore a backup of the production company as a test company and experiment with it freely in a safe environment.

  • Choosing the test company option comes with the ability to configure certain settings, such as disabling EET, optionally disabling automatic email sending, or disabling Web Hooks.

  • You can also choose whether to restore the change history (which may increase the company's data size) or whether to restore the changes API.

Confirming the form by clicking "Restore Data" will initiate the backup restoration. The result will be the creation of a new company, which you will find again in the company selection screen.

FAQ

Backups on your own server can also be created automatically. For more information, see our guide.
