On workstations running Windows Vista and Windows XP, a Java version older than 8u60 is required (version 8u31 available for download HERE).
The existing Java installation must be uninstalled before installing the older version.
On Windows 7 and newer operating systems, any version of Java may be used. A Java error has also been observed on Windows 10 with Java 8u191.
