Data Source Management

How to Add or Edit a Data Source

Written by Lenka Haringerová

🧭 Introduction

The "Data Source Management" dialog is used to manage the repositories where your company's data — or the data of companies you manage — is stored. If you use ABRA Flexi on a single computer only, you generally do not need to change this setting.

However, if your data is stored on a company network, you can use this dialog to add or edit its location.

📋 Dialog Overview

When you launch the Flexi application using the desktop icon or from the Start menu, the Application Login dialog appears. Clicking the button will open the following dialog:

The left side of the dialog displays the list of data sources (repositories, servers) where the accounting data for your company or other managed companies is stored. If you are using a local installation only, the default entry in the data source list is "Local Computer".

The right side of the dialog displays the list of actions you can perform on data sources.

🔧 Available Actions

  • 🔍 Find – automatically searches for available data sources on the network. If any are found, the source is added to the list.

  • ➕ Add – adds a new data source (e.g. a server on the network).

  • ✏️ Edit – edits an existing data source.

  • 🗑️ Remove – removes a data source from the list.

  • ♻️ Default – restores the default data source settings.

🖥️ Adding / Editing a Data Source

When you select the Add or Edit action, a dialog appears in which you can add or edit a data source (server):

  • 📌 Server Name – a custom name for the data source.

  • 🌐 Server Address – the address of the database server (e.g. myserver.com).

  • 🔢 Server Port – the port number on which the data source is available (default: "5434").
