Bank - Excel Imports

Bank Excel Import Tutorial – Next Episode

Written by Petr Pech

In this chapter, we will walk through a specific example of importing data from Excel into the bank records. You have a bank statement available in CSV or XLS format for Excel. These statements can also be imported into ABRA Flexi using the Excel import feature. For the general principles of Excel imports, we recommend reading the first chapter - Introduction. Excel imports are available from the Business edition onwards.

If your license includes imports of issued invoices, they will be available in the Tools module (Tools -> Import -> Import from Excel -> Bank).

Note: Before importing bank data, you need to have a bank account set up in ABRA Flexi to which the statements will be assigned, as well as a bank document type.

In the application, pre-configure the bank account with the selected bank document type, as shown in the screenshot.

Now let's proceed to importing a specific statement. We will be importing the following sample statement: banka_vzor.xls

Since the Excel file contains column headers, check the option "Ignore first row (column names)" when selecting columns.

Note: The order of the columns selected for import must exactly match the order of the columns in the Excel file.

Internal number - required field, this is a unique identifier for the record in the bank. You can enter any value for your own record-keeping.

Document type - required field, use the abbreviation of the document type to reference the selected bank document type.

Transaction type - determines whether the bank transaction is a debit or a credit. Accepted values are typPohybu.prijem or typPohybu.vydej. This is not a required field if it is already defined on the document type.

Variable symbol - an arbitrary string for identifying the payment

Issue date - this is the date the payment was issued (received or sent). Based on this date, other dates on the transaction will be pre-filled — tax date, VAT date, accounting date — or they can be entered separately in an additional column.

Company code - identifies the company from the Address Book using its abbreviation.

Exempt, excl. VAT [CZK] - total amount of the transaction

Currency - the currency code in which the amount is stated (CZK, EUR, etc.)

Description - payment information from the statement, which will also be written into the bank transaction line item.

All properties of the bank records can be found at:

After selecting the relevant columns, click the "OK" button and a table will appear showing the data types of the selected columns and their properties.

After clicking the "OK" button, select the file to import and confirm your consent to import the records. The import will notify you that new bank documents are being created.

If the import fails and the Excel file needs to be corrected, a window should appear displaying the specific errors, along with an option to send an error report to Flexi support.

If the import completes successfully, the new transaction will appear in the Bank records.
