The allocation of incidental costs to inventory allows you to retrospectively increase the price of received goods.
There are several ways to enter incidental costs — we will walk through each of them below.
Increasing the purchase price per unit by an amount
Use this method if you know the exact amount by which you need to increase the purchase price per unit for a specific item.
In the item edit view of the goods receipt, you will find the Incidental Costs field, where you can enter the incidental cost amount for a specific item.
If the Incidental Costs field is not visible in the form, you can easily add it using the form field settings.
Increasing the price of an entire delivery
Use this method if you need to increase the price of an entire delivery — that is, all items on an already created goods receipt — for example, to add freight charges or similar costs. When viewing the goods receipt, the Allocate Incidental Costs to Inventory service is available among the offered actions at the bottom of the page.
Once opened, you will find several configuration options that determine how the allocation is carried out.
Total inventory items
This field shows the total amount for all items on the inventory receipt — i.e., the total amount of the entire receipt document.
Costs to allocate
Enter the amount by which you need to increase the value of the given inventory stock.
Total acquisition price of items
This field is calculated automatically based on the preceding values.
In the lower part of the dialog, select the cost allocation method:
If you select by price, the costs to allocate are distributed proportionally across all unit prices. For example, if the delivery price is CZK 20,000 and the incidental costs are CZK 10,000, that represents 50% of the purchase price — so every purchase price per unit is also increased by 50%.
If you select by number of units, the costs to allocate are divided by the total number of units in the delivery, and the resulting amount is added to the acquisition price per unit. For example, if the delivery contains 20 units and the incidental costs are CZK 10,000, the price per unit for each item increases by CZK 500, regardless of the current purchase price per unit.
Both allocation methods are reflected in the posting of the inventory document.

Flexi also allows you to increase the price of the total inventory stock without modifying previous receipts. See the guide in which we describe how to do this.
