Data Source Configuration

Written by Lenka Haringerová

When you launch the application, a login dialog is displayed, in which you can select the data source you want to connect to. If you run Flexi on a single computer only, you do not need to configure this setting. If you run Flexi on a network and the data source is located on a different computer, you must set the path to it.

Adding a New Data Source

A new data source is added through the Manage Data Sources dialog. This dialog is accessible from the login dialog by clicking the gear icon.

The Manage Data Sources dialog will appear. After installation, the list typically contains a source named Local Computer. On the right side of the dialog, buttons for managing data sources are available.

Clicking the Find button will automatically search for a Flexi server on the network. If no server is found using this function, you can add one manually by clicking the Add button.

In the dialog for adding a new source, enter the name you want the source to be listed under in the Server Name field. This is not the server address — you can choose any name you like. In the Server Address field, enter the address of the server (hostname or IP address) where the database server with the accounting data is running. Enter 5434 as the server port, unless your server administrator specifies a different value.

Once you have filled in the form, click the Add button. When adding a new data source, the system verifies whether the data source is available and properly initialized. If an error message appears indicating that the data source is unavailable, verify that it is actually running and accessible from your computer. It is possible that it is being blocked by a firewall or that the database source is not configured for remote access.

Server address — the link you use to connect to the cloud or to the server. You can find it either in your customer link or in the URL of the web application:

Once added, the source will be available in the list of available sources, which you can edit freely and from which you can remove individual sources if needed. To log in to the newly added source, use the login dialog and select your added data source from the drop-down list.

Restoring Default Settings

If you accidentally deleted the default data source settings, you can easily restore them. In the Manage Data Sources dialog, click the Default button.
