ABRA Flexi at Point of Sale Locations

How to Use ABRA Flexi at Point of Sale Locations

Written by Lenka Haringerová

ABRA Flexi software is fully prepared for deployment in retail stores. It includes a point-of-sale module that supports barcode scanners, customer-facing displays, and card payment terminals. Full EET (Electronic Sales Registration) integration is included as standard.
A more comprehensive option is the add-on POS system FlexiPOS from our distribution partner ARIT. Various peripherals such as touchscreen LCDs and more can also be used.

Point-of-Sale Module

ABRA Flexi has a dedicated module for retail stores. Compared to the Issued Invoices module, its interface is significantly simplified so that cashiers are not confused by a large number of buttons irrelevant to their work.

The Point-of-Sale module still allows you to enter all the necessary information that every retailer needs. Prices are calculated according to a price list from which items can be selected and quantities specified. The POS module naturally reflects your pricing configuration, making it easy to set up volume discounts or special prices for specific customers. After selecting an item from the price list, a product image can also be displayed so the cashier can immediately confirm the correct item was chosen. Finally, simply specify the quantity and press the Save button.

Entering a single item is therefore very fast and intuitive.

Electronic Sales Registration (EET)

The Point-of-Sale module is fully EET-ready. In the document type settings within the Point-of-Sale list, you can pre-fill all the required details such as the establishment identifier and cash register device ID. Simply upload your certificate and you are ready to go. Cashiers do not need to deal with EET at all — they simply enter and print receipts. When a receipt is printed, the transaction is automatically submitted to the tax authority, and the required FIK code along with other mandatory details are printed on the receipt.

Barcode Scanner

The entire sales process can be further streamlined by using a barcode scanner. If you enter the appropriate EAN codes for items in your price list, during a sale you simply need to scan the EAN codes from the products and the Point-of-Sale module will automatically add the corresponding items.

The same approach can also be used for items with serial numbers, which are important for products such as computer hardware. On most such products, serial numbers are printed as a barcode. After scanning the code from the product, ABRA Flexi will attempt to find an item with a matching EAN code, and if unsuccessful, it will search for the code in the serial number table.

To make full use of your barcode scanner's potential, it needs to be configured correctly. A scanner with factory default settings will not trigger the appropriate action in Flexi — it will only read the barcode. You need to configure it to first activate the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F10 (or another shortcut definable in the company settings), then scan the EAN code, and confirm with the Enter key.

Instructions for configuring a barcode scanner are available on the podpora.flexibee.eu website.

If you program the scanner so that it activates the F10 key as a prefix, it will also be possible to enter the quantity of the scanned item using the computer keyboard. This can be useful, for example, in a store selling goods by weight, where barcodes are printed on a sheet of paper, which you scan and then enter the weight manually.

Customer Display

A display can also be connected to the Point-of-Sale module, showing the customer a running total of their purchase and the price of the most recently added item. This is the same type of display commonly found in supermarkets. The customer does not see what the cashier is entering into the system — only the price information is shown.

Connecting a customer display is straightforward. On the computer to which the display will be connected, you need to identify the address of the relevant port and create the correct pos.xml file. Instructions for connecting a display can again be found on the podpora.flexibee.eu website.

If you do not use the Point-of-Sale module directly in a retail store, it can still be used to simplify the management of Issued Invoices.

Payment Terminal for Card Payments

Card payment is something customers expect in almost every store today. That is why seamless integration between a payment terminal and the point-of-sale system is essential. ABRA Flexi makes exactly this kind of quick integration possible. The terminal can be connected either via a serial interface (COM) or over a standard computer network (TCP protocol).

When you select Card Payment as the payment method at the register and press the Complete button, ABRA Flexi sends the required data to the terminal, enabling the payment to be processed.

Instructions for connecting a payment terminal can be found in the Knowledgebase.
