⚠️ Straighten Dates is not included in the license and is not generally available. Enabling it and every use must be discussed and approved in advance with ABRA Flexi support. Incorrect use can irreversibly change your inventory valuation.
Inventory date and issue date
Every line item of an inventory document contains an issue date (editable by the user) and an actual creation date (stored in the database, cannot be edited by the user). The latter is also called the inventory date, because it determines the moment when the stock movement actually occurred.
You will never see the inventory date in the application, and it cannot be changed manually. The difference between the two dates becomes apparent precisely when documents are entered retroactively.
ℹ️ Example: If you issue a goods receipt note today and set the issue date to a day one month back, the document will actually carry that issue date. However, the goods will be received into stock as of today's date. The warehouse works with the actual sequence in which documents were created, not with how they appear outwardly.
That's why Flexi will not allow you to retroactively issue goods that you didn't have in stock on that date, even if the document has a backdated issue date.
What the feature does
You may sometimes need to enter an inventory document retroactively. In standard mode, the creation date will be equal to the actual creation date, not to the issue date stated on the document.
Straighten Dates is used to overwrite the actual creation date with the issue date shown in the document header.
You'll find the button to run this feature above the inventory cards.
⚠️ Warning
Entering a stock movement retroactively and then running Straighten Dates could result in a negative stock level. If this would occur, Flexi will not allow you to perform the date straightening.
In general, however, you can display items with negative stock using the button in the top toolbar.
After completion, run an inventory recalculation
Once the process is complete, you need to perform an inventory recalculation (Tools -> Inventory Recalculation) — this ensures that retroactively created movements update the prices of subsequent ones.
This is because straightening dates changes the order of movements, and thus also the FIFO links between receipts and issues. The recalculation restores them according to the new chronology.
