Nursing/Caregiving Allowance

How to Enter Nursing/Care Allowance in ABRA Flexi

Written by Lenka Haringerová

Nursing care benefits (ošetřovné) have been updated since 2022, making them accessible to more people. These benefits are paid exclusively to employees, starting from the 1st calendar day of the month. The benefit amount is 60% of the reduced daily assessment base.

We distinguish between short-term and long-term nursing care benefits based on the duration of absence. In both cases, the benefit is calculated the same way. Long-term nursing care benefits can be claimed by an employee caring for a person who has spent at least 7 days in hospital and requires round-the-clock assistance for at least 30 days. For full details, visit the Long-term nursing care benefit – Czech Social Security Administration (cssz.cz) website.

Nursing Care Benefits in ABRA Flexi

Nursing care benefits can be entered via the menu Employees – HR, on the Absence tab, or via the Payroll Update menu using the Update Absence button.

Select whether the benefit is short-term or long-term, then enter the period, decision number, and reason for the nursing care benefit.

The nursing care benefit should be visible on the Absence tab and also on the payslip. If it does not appear, try recalculating the payroll. For nursing care benefits, only hours are displayed — not the monetary amount — because the payment is made directly by the Czech Social Security Administration (ČSSZ).

Next, you need to generate the attachment to the sickness benefit claim — just as you would in the case of sick leave. This can be found in the menu Employees – Print Outputs – For OSSZ – Employer's Notification of Employee's Benefit Claim: claim type – nursing care benefit.

Select the month, the employee, and choose Nursing Care Benefit as the claim type. The remaining details will be populated automatically from the Payroll Update menu. Then select the Action: commencement / continuation / termination.

The output can be saved as a PDF or XML file, which can then be submitted to the ČSSZ.
