Updating ABRA Flexi to Version 2022.5.x on Linux Operating System

Automatic updates on Linux are currently not supported, so the version will not be deployed to RPM/DEB repositories for the time being.

Written by Petr Pech

Valid up to version 2024.7.0; from version 2024.7.0 onwards, Java is included in the installation.

ABRA Flexi from version 2022.5.0 onwards supports only PostgreSQL 10–13. This means that version 2022.5.x cannot be run with PostgreSQL 9.x. Automatic updates on Linux are not currently supported, so this version will not be deployed to the RPM/DEB repositories for the time being.

If you need to deploy this version of ABRA Flexi, please follow the instructions below.

Installation procedure

We recommend first reviewing the changelog for versions 2022.5.x. You can find the changelog in the About section – Versions.

To successfully update ABRA Flexi, you will need to completely remove the application and install PostgreSQL 13 before reinstalling.

Installation steps

  1. Create a data backup of all companies from the data source.

    • Without a data backup, you will lose all recorded data.

  2. Uninstall ABRA Flexi including its data

    • ABRA Flexi must be completely removed.

  3. Uninstall the existing version of PostgreSQL

    • If the installed version of PostgreSQL is not 13, proceed with the uninstallation.

  4. Install PostgreSQL 13

  5. Update/change Java

    • Java 8 is not available in Debian 10/11; Debian uses Java 11. ABRA Flexi currently requires Java 8 — please make the change.

  6. Perform a fresh installation of ABRA Flexi

  7. Import the ABRA Flexi license

    • Since this is a "new" installation of the application, you will need to re-import the license and activate the application.

    • If you need your license to be resent, please contact our sales department by email at obchodflexi@abra.eu or by phone at +420 371 124 340.

  8. Restore the data backups created in the first step

  9. Set passwords and user types

    • ABRA Flexi company backups do not include user passwords or user types.

    • Users will therefore have no passwords, and until you set them, it will not be possible to log in as those users in the restored data.

FAQ

Why is the repository not up to date?

This is intentional, as automatic updates triggered by the repository must be reliable. When releasing a new version, we follow the process described here.

What are the system requirements?

ABRA Flexi cannot be launched due to two versions of Java.

If two versions of Java are installed on the computer and ABRA Flexi cannot be launched, it is likely attempting to start with an unsupported version of Java. You need to uncomment Flexi_java in the /etc/default/flexibee file and set the path to the Java version that ABRA Flexi should use.

How do I restore a data backup on the server?

If the restore fails within the server application, the solution is to restore the data backup using the API.

ABRA Flexi is rendering incorrectly.

On some Linux distributions, fonts in application fields may render incorrectly. You can find the solution here.
