Google's security policy does not allow PLAIN authentication using a username and password, and requires external applications to use a so-called App Password. Here you will find a complete guide on how to proceed when sending emails from ABRA Flexi using your Gmail account.
Gmail Account Setup
1. The account must have 2FA enabled — two-factor authentication in the account settings, under Security → Signing in to Google: https://myaccount.google.com/security
2. Once 2FA is enabled, create an App Password on the App Passwords page: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords (Google will prompt you to sign in again).
If you cannot find the page: in your Google Account settings, type "App passwords" into the search box.
3. Enter an app name (e.g., "ABRA Flexi") and click Create. Google will generate a 16-character password that must be used in ABRA Flexi (see the next step). The password is displayed only once — make sure to save it.
⚠️ For Google Workspace users: the Workspace organization administrator must centrally enable IMAP/SMTP and the creation of App Passwords (Admin Console → Security → Less secure apps / App access). Without this, password generation within the account will not be possible, even if 2FA is active.
ABRA Flexi Setup
In the desktop application, the SMTP server can be configured via the menu Tools → SMTP Server Settings. To access this feature, the user must have the ADMIN role with server permissions — Access to all companies.
In the SMTP settings, enter the following:
SMTP server:
smtp.gmail.comPort: 465, security SSL (alternatively, port 587 + STARTTLS can be used)
Username: Your Gmail address
Password: the generated App Password from the previous step — this is not your regular email account password
