Setting Up Apple iCloud SMTP for Sending Emails from the App

How to set up an iCloud email mailbox for sending emails under your Apple iCloud email address?

Written by Petr Pech

ABRA Flexi offers the option to configure a custom SMTP server for sending email messages under your company domain. You will need to generate an app-specific password for ABRA Flexi in your Apple ID settings. Here you will find a complete guide on how to send emails from ABRA Flexi using your iCloud account.

Apple ID Account Setup

1. The account must have 2FA enabled — two-factor authentication in the account settings, under Sign-In and Security – Account Security.

2. After enabling 2FA, you need to create an app-specific password in the App-Specific Passwords section (you will be required to sign in again as usual).

You will be prompted to generate a password.

3. Name the app-specific password something like "ABRA Flexi Mail" and your computer name, as shown in the screenshot.

4. After clicking Generate, a password will be generated that must be used in ABRA Flexi — see the next step.

ABRA Flexi Setup

In the desktop application, the SMTP server can be configured via the menu Tools -> SMTP Server Settings. To access this feature, the user must have the ADMIN role with server permissions — Access to all companies.

1. In the SMTP settings, enter your email address, port 587, and SSL security.

Default sender is the full email address you have chosen, associated with your iCloud account.

Username is your iCloud login name /without "@icloud.com"/

Note: for some users, this address may differ from the email used for the Apple ID.

The key setting is the Password field, where you enter the generated password from Apple security in step 4 of the previous section. This is not your regular email account password.
