Import from Excel - Attributes

Price List Attributes – Next Part of the Excel Import Tutorial

Written by Petr Pech

In this chapter, we will walk through a specific example of importing from Excel into the Attributes register. Attributes are used to introduce additional information for which there is no standard place in the price list item detail. More information about what an attribute actually is can be found in our guide — for the desktop or web application.

If your license includes Excel imports (Business edition), they will be available in the Tools module (Tools -> Import -> Import from Excel -> Attributes).

Now let's move on to importing a specific file. We will be importing the following sample file: atributy_vzor.xls

Since the Excel file contains column headers, check the "Ignore first row (column headers)" option when selecting columns.

Note: The order of the columns selected for import must exactly match the order of the columns in the Excel file.

The table below explains what value each column should contain.

Column

Description

Attribute type

Enter the code of the attribute type — see the attribute type list. More information in the guide.

Price list

Enter the code of the price list item to which the attribute should be imported.

Value

The attribute value. Its data type is determined by the attribute type, which is mandatory.

Integer; Date; Decimal number; Boolean; String

These columns do not need to be filled in; alternatively, only one of them may be filled in — the one that matches the attribute type. In that case, it would replace the value column.

All properties of the Attributes register can be found at:
https://demo.flexibee.eu/c/demo/atribut/properties

After selecting the relevant columns, click the "Ok" button and a table will appear showing the data types of the selected columns and their properties.

After clicking the "OK" button, select the file to import and confirm your consent to import the records. The import will report the creation of new attributes.

If you were to import already existing attributes with only a change in value, the import confirmation dialog will look the same as in the screenshot below.

If the import fails and the Excel file needs to be corrected, a window should appear displaying the specific errors, along with the option to send an error report to Flexi support.

If the import completes successfully, the new attributes will appear on the Attributes tab under the relevant item in the price list.
