SMTP Server Configuration - GUI

How to set up a custom SMTP server in the desktop app?

Written by Hana Vršanská

In the desktop application, you can configure the SMTP server in the menu Tools -> SMTP Server Settings. To access this feature, the user must have the ADMIN role with server permissions - Access all companies.

Field descriptions:

  • Server address - Your own or an external SMTP server address.

  • Server port - The SMTP server port.

  • User - The user's email address. (if the SMTP server requires authentication)

  • Password - The password for the user's email address. (if the SMTP server requires authentication)

  • Default sender - Following the example above, you can add a sender name, or you may leave just the email address.

  • Connection security - The security mode for SMTP communication.

The Send test email button will prompt you to enter an email address where a test email should be delivered if everything is configured correctly.

It is also worth noting that the default sender does not have to be the email mailbox associated with the login credentials for the given SMTP server. For each user ("Tools - Users in company"), you can set an email address that will be used when sending a document.

Note:
As of 30 May 2022, Google made a change for @gmail.com users:

If you are using an SMTP server with Google, you must follow this guide.
