Goods – Price Levels
Using this form, you can define sales discounts for selected goods groups, price list items, individual companies, price list groups, and price list items. You can also set up to four quantity discount levels, as well as temporary discounts — for example, for spring and autumn sales.
Note
This list is part of a service that extends the price list. It can only be used in the Business and Premium editions.
General information about code lists can be found in the chapter Basic Parameter Settings, section Code Lists.
Using price levels, the application allows you to provide discounts for selected customer groups and selected goods groups. You can simultaneously set up to four quantity discount levels. This option also allows you to configure temporary discounts — for example, for spring and autumn sales, etc.
Price levels are used when issuing sales documents for goods from the warehouse, both by invoice and for cash.
You can open the list in the "Goods" module under the "Price Levels" option.
The top toolbar contains a number of buttons whose functions are described in the dedicated chapter "Program Controls".
Main Panel
Press the button or the keyboard shortcut Alt+N to open the form for a new record.
The top toolbar of the form contains a number of buttons whose functions are described in the dedicated chapter "Program Controls".
Code
Required field, can contain up to 20 characters. The value must be unique among all records.
Choose it so that it reflects the characteristics of the defined level. That way, you won't have to wonder what a particular level means.
Name
Required field, can contain up to 255 characters.
This generally represents the record in overviews, printed reports, or selection lists, so it should identify the record in a unique and descriptive way.
If you configured foreign languages during the initial setup, pressing the "+" button allows you to fill in the "Name" field in the selected foreign languages. These language variants of the name are printed on documents when printing in a foreign language. Press the "-" button to close the foreign-language name fields.
Price level is temporary
Used to enter discounts for a specific period — for example, seasonal prices. Checking this option enables two fields, Valid from date: and Valid to date:, where you specify the start and end dates of the price level's validity.
Valid from date
The date from which the temporary discount applies. This field becomes available when the price level is temporary checkbox is selected.
Valid to date
The date until which the temporary discount applies. This field becomes available when the price level is temporary checkbox is selected.
The rest of the form is divided into several tabs.
Tab "Pricing"
Price Rounding
This setting handles rounding of the selling price for the given price level. The price type (excluding VAT, including VAT – exact, including VAT – coefficient) is configured on the main panel of individual price list cards, where rounding of standard selling prices is also managed. Based on the price type set on the card and the rounding configured here, the selling price for the given price level is rounded accordingly.
These two rounding methods make it possible to round standard selling prices up to the nearest ten, while leaving selling prices for selected customer and goods groups unrounded.
Method
Select from the options: up, down, mathematical.
Precision
Select from the options: no rounding, or round to thousandths, hundredths, tenths, ones, tens, hundreds, thousands.
Selling Price (SP) Calculation Method
For selected customer groups and goods groups, separate selling prices can be defined that may differ entirely from standard selling prices.
They can be derived from the current selling prices by applying trade discounts (rebates). This option is particularly suited for wholesaler-dealer relationships where the supplier sets the selling price and the dealer's purchase price is negotiated. Since the only reference price is the selling price, it must serve as the base (100%) for calculating the dealer's purchase price. The rebate percentage indicates how much lower the dealer's purchase price will be compared to the standard selling price.
Calculation = SP – (SP / 100 * % discount)
Example: You offer a dealer a product you sell for CZK 100 at CZK 50. You are therefore giving them a 50% discount.
Users who are accustomed to working with rebates based on purchase prices have the option to calculate the selling price from the purchase price by adding a rebate. This is simply a different perspective on the same pricing structure.
Calculation = PP / (100 – % rebate) * 100
Another option is a calculation where the base price is the purchase price, with a margin (trade price margin) added. The seller defines this internally and calculates their selling prices based on purchase prices. The margin percentage indicates by how many percent the selling price will exceed the purchase price. It can also be negative (selling at a loss), with a minimum value of –100%.
Calculation = PP * (% margin + 100) / 100
Example: You buy something for CZK 50 and sell it for CZK 100 — making a profit equal to what it cost you. The margin is therefore 100%.
Base price
This is the base price used to calculate the standard selling price for a selected goods group and a selected company group. You can choose between the purchase price and the selling price.
Calculation method
If the base price is the "purchase price", the calculation method offers two options: margin or rebate. If the base price is the "selling price", the only available calculation method is to apply a discount.
% (percentage) specifies the percentage value depending on the calculation method. This can be a margin percentage, a rebate percentage, or a discount percentage.
SP Calculation Method (2–5) with Quantity Discounts
For selected customer groups and selected goods groups, separate selling prices with quantity discounts can be defined that may differ entirely from standard selling prices with quantity discounts.
The calculation method is the same as in the preceding section. It is up to each user whether to keep the same base price and calculation method settings for quantity discount pricing or to define a different calculation method for a given goods group and company group.
Base price
This is the base price used to calculate the selling price with quantity discounts for a selected goods group and a selected company group. You can choose between the purchase price and the selling price.
Calculation method
If the base price is the "purchase price", the calculation method offers two options: margin or rebate. If the base price is the "selling price", the only available calculation method is to apply a discount.
From quantity
You can define up to 4 quantity levels, creating up to 4 quantity discount tiers. It is up to each user how to make use of this option. If you set quantity discounts starting from, for example, 10, 50, and 100 units (units = kg, pcs, litres — as specified in the price list), then when selling 1–9 units the base price (1st level) will be automatically offered; when selling 10–49 units the 2nd price level will be automatically offered; when selling 50–99 units the 3rd price level will be automatically offered; and when selling 100 or more units the 4th price level will be automatically offered.% (percentage) Specifies the percentage value depending on the calculation method. This can be a margin percentage, a rebate percentage, or a discount percentage.
Tab "Selected Groups"
This tab is used to select the goods groups for which the configured price level will apply. You can also indicate whether the price level should apply to all companies. If you want the level to apply only to specific companies or company groups, you can organize companies into price list groups for this purpose.
If you want to apply a price level to a single company for all goods, you must select all goods groups and create a dedicated price list group for that company, to which you then assign this price level.
Conversely — if you want to, for example, discount one goods group for all customers, select a single goods group and check the option to apply it to all companies.
Tab "Texts"
Completing this tab is optional.
Description
A more detailed description of the price level.
Note
An additional note about the price level.
Tab "Administration"
The "Administration" tab contains information about the time validity and visibility of the given record in the code list (list). The validity of a record is specified as a range of calendar years. Within the specified range, the record is valid; outside of it, the record is not valid and will not appear in the code list at all. By limiting validity, you ensure that users are not slowed down by scrolling through obsolete records during routine use of the code list.
Because time validity is tied to calendar years, it does not correspond to fiscal accounting periods.
Valid from
The calendar year in which the record's validity begins.
Valid to
The calendar year in which the record's validity ends.
If you want the record to have unlimited validity, do not change the default value "0" in the Valid from field and "9999" in the Valid to field. The record will then be usable in all calendar years and will appear in the list for every calendar year.
If you set both the Valid from and Valid to fields to "2016", the record will only be usable in the year 2016 — meaning it will only be visible in the list during that year (see accounting period in the sidebar navigation header).
