A bit of theory
Unfortunately, ABRA Flexi does not calculate severance pay, because severance pay can vary in amount, as described below.
In some cases, severance pay is mandated directly by law, specifically in the following situations:
by law, an employee who has been given notice or whose employment ends by mutual agreement for so-called organizational reasons is entitled to severance pay, i.e.:
- the employer or part of the employer's organization is dissolved,
- the employer or part of the employer's organization is relocated,
- the employee becomes redundant due to a decision by the employer or a relevant authority regarding changes to its tasks, technical equipment, a reduction in headcount to increase work efficiency, or other organizational changes.
The minimum amount of severance pay is determined by the number of years worked for the same employer.
Employees whose employment lasted more than two years are entitled to severance pay equal to three times their average earnings from the preceding months.
If an employee has worked for at least one year but less than three years, they receive twice their average earnings. If they have worked for less than one year, they receive only one month's severance pay.
In the case of notice given by the employee or by the employer for other reasons, the employee is not entitled to statutory severance pay.
How to enter severance pay in Flexi
Severance pay can be entered in the menu Employees – Payroll Update. Here, open the relevant employee record and on the Base Salary tab click the New button:
Here, select the Severance Pay component:
Enter the amount you have calculated outside of Flexi. For the calculation, you can use an online calculator, for example: Severance pay for 2021 – calculator. What severance pay are you entitled to? | Kurzy.cz
After entering the amount, also check User Amount Override and then click Save and Close.
You then need to recalculate the payroll:
What if the employee's contract has already been terminated?
If we have already terminated the employee's employment in the HR section, it may happen that the employee does not appear in the Payroll Update menu, making it impossible to enter their severance pay.
In that case, you need to update the Active Until field in the HR section on the Employment Contract tab.
Open the relevant employment record and on the Termination tab clear the Active Until field. The End of Employment field can remain filled in.
Click Save and Close and you can then proceed as described in the previous section.
