Warehouse Locations - WUI

How to work with an additional placement of the relevant inventory card in the web interface?

Written by Petr Pech

Warehouse location is a tool for defining the location of a stock card. Each stock card can have up to 3 types of location assigned to it, always referring to a room, a rack, and a shelf.

The warehouse location therefore indicates where a particular stock item can be found within the warehouse.

Note: Warehouse location is available from the Premium license tier and above.

Let's take a look at how to set up warehouse locations using the web application. The easiest way to find it is by using the search.

You can switch directly to one of the three location types, effectively choosing the type of location you want to create by selecting the appropriate module.

In this guide, however, we will show you how to create a warehouse location from within the "Warehouse Location" module and how to specify the type during the creation process.

After switching to the "Warehouse Location" module, just as with any other record, you can create a new warehouse location by clicking the "New" button in the top right corner of the module.

First, enter a name along with an abbreviation. We recommend using your own naming conventions for locations. As an example, you could follow a method where the first character is the room identifier, the second character is the rack identifier, and the number after it is the shelf identifier.

  • 3 - room number (or identifier)

  • B - rack identifier

  • 2 - shelf identifier

The resulting location takes the form "3_B2". To allow it to be added to a stock card, keep the "Display" option active.

The advantage of this approach is that you do not need to create all three location types separately. However, you can of course also create the room, rack, and shelf as individual records.

Once you have created the location according to your requirements, you can save it and proceed to assign it to a stock card.

Using the search again, navigate to stock cards and open the card to which you want to assign the location.

By default, the warehouse location field is not displayed. You can easily show it using form field settings.

Once the warehouse location field is visible, you can simply select one of the locations you created a moment ago.

Once the warehouse location has been correctly filled in, you can save the stock card.

The primary purpose of warehouse locations in Flexi is to improve the clarity and organization of stock cards. You can filter by a given location, and whenever you open a stock card, you will immediately know where the item is positioned in your warehouse.

If a stock item is stored in multiple locations, you need to create a warehouse location record that reflects all of those positions. For example, if an item is simultaneously located at positions 2, 3, and 4, you would create a warehouse location of type "shelf" with the label "2, 3, 4".

The same applies to working with warehouse movements, namely goods receipts and issues.

Warehouse locations can also be used within the desktop application, for which documentation is also available. There you will find in particular the description of the individual fields.
