Written by Lenka Haringerová

General Ledger

The General Ledger combines the trial balance and account movements.

Quote from the Accounting Act … § 13 Accounting Books

(1) Accounting entities record transactions, unless this Act provides otherwise:
a) in the journal (journals), in which accounting entries are arranged chronologically and which serve as proof that all accounting transactions have been recorded in the accounting period,
b) in the general ledger, in which accounting entries are arranged systematically,
c) in analytical account books, in which the accounting entries of the general ledger are broken down in detail,
d) in off-balance-sheet account books, in which accounting entries are recorded that are not made in the accounting books referred to in points a) and b).
(2) The general ledger includes synthetic accounts according to the chart of accounts, which contain at a minimum the following information:
a) account balances as of the date on which the general ledger is opened,
b) aggregate debit and credit turnover of accounts, at least for a calendar month,
c) account balances as of the date on which the financial statements are prepared.
(3) Accounting entities may not establish accounts outside the chart of accounts and accounting books.

Defining the display conditions for the General Ledger

You can find the General Ledger in the "Accounting" module under the "Accounting Outputs" list. Clicking on the "General Ledger" item opens a wizard where you can specify the parameters for the general ledger.

Use the drop-down list to select the accounting period for which you want to display the general ledger.

Summary turnover by calendar month only

If you want to display only the summary turnover in the general ledger, check this option (total account turnovers only).

Once you have filled in these details, you can complete the wizard or add further specifications by clicking the "Next" button.

Accounts

Selection type "List"

When defining a filter condition for accounting outputs, the "List" type is used by default. Clicking the "Select" button opens a dialog where all available values are shown on the left side of the list. You can move values to the right side by double-clicking or using the arrow buttons. Confirming with "OK" closes the dialog and transfers the values to the condition preview. The resulting filter includes records that meet any of the conditions in the list. You can use the arrows to move all values from the left side to the right and vice versa.

Once you have filled in these details, you can complete the wizard or add further specifications by clicking the "Next" button.

Currencies

Use the "Select" button to choose the currencies that the general ledger should cover.

Selected Cost Centers

Use the "Select" button to choose the cost centers that the general ledger should cover.

Close the wizard by clicking the "Finish" button.
