Starting with version 2022.5, PostgreSQL 13 is required for new installations and updates of ABRA Flexi on Windows and MacOS. When updating a server installation on Windows and MacOS, the data files will be automatically converted to the new PostgreSQL version.
Automatic updates on Linux are currently not supported, therefore this version will not yet be deployed to the RPM/DEB repositories. Do not manually install the 2022.5.x package, as it will not work with PostgreSQL 9.x.
0. Recommendations and system limitations for the database update
Please allow sufficient time for the update.
To be safe, we recommend backing up your accounting data in advance.
The migration will require sufficient free disk space and can be very time-consuming.
Windows is now only supported in the 64-bit variant with NTFS (data cannot be stored on FAT32).
The minimum required macOS version is now 10.14 Mojave.
On Linux, support for older PostgreSQL versions 8.3 through 9.6 has ended. Version 10 is now the minimum (version 13 remains the maximum).
Support for database procedures written in PL/Tcl has been discontinued. Any user-defined procedures in this language must be removed from the databases.
If these points are not followed, we cannot guarantee a successful update.
Now let's take a look at how to install and update ABRA Flexi, including updating PostgreSQL.
1. Downloading the ABRA Flexi installation package
The version for your own servers and local installations can be obtained from the download section.
In the download section, you will find and download the universal package for your operating system. The universal package is required for local installations and server installations. The package also includes the database system installation.
2. Installation (update)
Before starting the installation, completely close ABRA Flexi if it is running. Also, make sure there are no active API integrations (connections to other systems) or webhooks that automatically write data in the background.
You can now run the installation package. On MacOS, the system may reject the installation package with the following message:

After completing the initial installation steps,
following the license agreement, the installer will prompt you to update the PostgreSQL database system:
The PostgreSQL installation package is required for the installation. The installer will download this package automatically if the computer is connected to the internet. You can also download this package manually from the following address:

The next screen warns you that the installation may take a longer time, during which you will not be able to access your data. Confirm by clicking "Next".
On the next installer screen, you have the option to manually specify the downloaded PostgreSQL installation package. The package is in a ZIP archive - do not modify or extract this archive in any way; simply select the path to it and confirm by clicking "Next".
In the next step, the archive extraction will begin, and the installer will prepare to update the database system.
The last step before the actual database system update is a screen where you confirm the PostgreSQL update, after which the data will be modified. Old data can be archived at the end of the update, so you don't need to worry about data loss. Confirm by clicking "Next".
A status screen will display a simple progress overview of the update. If an informational message appears, click "Next" to continue the installation.
If the installation is interrupted, another message will inform you that the database update was not successful.
After a successful update, the user is notified and can click "Finish" to close the installer.
The old data from the previous ABRA Flexi version can be kept - the user is prompted to save the data to the Data_old folder.
Otherwise, a message will indicate that the database update was not successful, and the user will be prompted to delete the new version's data directory. The original data from before the update remains intact.
If a directory with backed-up data from the last update already exists on the disk, an error will occur during the update, and you will need to manually delete the directory to continue.

Where can I find the update log to identify an error?
Windows - the logs can be found in the flexi-upgrade directory, located within the C:\Users\{jméno uživatele}\AppData\Local\Temp\ directory
MacOS - the log can be found in the /Library/Application\ Support/FlexiBee/flexi-upgrade/ directory
An error appears during the database update: C:\Users\{uzivatel}\AppData\Local\Temp\flexi-upgrade\pgsql\share\tsearch_data\danish.stop

We have observed this error on Windows Server 2019. The issue is caused by FSRM (File Server Resource Manager). The solution is to set it to passive mode.
Where can I find the application and database directories?
Can I revert to a previous version of ABRA Flexi?
Unfortunately, no. After the update, you must use ABRA Flexi 2022.5.0 or higher, along with the associated PostgreSQL database system version 13.

What are the requirements for a local installation or server?
Do I need to perform this update if I have a cloud license?
If you are using a rental license and your data is hosted in our cloud, this update is not necessary for you.

The PostgreSQL database server automatically records information about its operation in the system log.
