For customers who have decided to switch between our ABRA Gen and ABRA Flexi systems, we have prepared a migration bridge. This article describes the migration requirements and what data the migration includes.
Your involvement
On your side, we will need a company data backup from the current version of ABRA GEN (23.1.X or higher).
Before the migration, you must have an ABRA Flexi license in place, with a new company created to which the resulting transferred data in XML format will be uploaded.
The consultant handling the XML data transfer requires access to ABRA Flexi on your part. Alternatively, the XML files can be handed over and imported yourself via the menu Tools > Import > Import XML. We recommend leaving the complete transfer to a Flexi consultant in case any errors occur during the import.
Note: In the case of a large volume of data (10,000 – 100,000 invoices), the import into ABRA Flexi may take several hours. The application must remain running on the computer throughout the entire process. Another option is to use the REST API for the transfer, which will likely be faster and runs in the background. However, we do not recommend working with the data in any way during the transfer.
Migration content
The migration bridge does not include a complete 1:1 accounting transfer.
The transfer primarily covers code lists, the history of paid documents, and opening balances — specifically the following ABRA GEN agendas (with the corresponding ABRA Flexi agenda name in parentheses):
Projects (Activity)
Payment Method (Payment Forms)
Period (Accounting Period)
Shipping Method (Delivery Forms)
Account (Chart of Accounts)
Document Series (Document Series)
Constant Symbols
Income Types, Expense Types (Posting Rules)
Users (Company Users)
Warehouses (Warehouse List)
Warehouse Menu (Price List Tree)
Warehouse Types (Product Groups)
Warehouse Locations (Locations)
Places (Room)
Warehouse Cards (Price List)
Bank Accounts (Bank Account List)
Purchase Invoices (Received Invoices) - this involves migrating paid documents as non-accounting historical data
Sales Invoices, Advance Invoice Sheets, Credit Notes for Sales Invoices (Issued Invoices) - this involves migrating paid documents as non-accounting historical data
Sales Reports – Payables and Receivables (Received Invoices and Issued Invoices) - remaining amounts due from issued and received invoices
Warehouse Cards (Goods Receipts/Issues) - warehouse opening balances
Chart of Accounts (Internal Documents) - accounting opening balances, For example, if the opening balance of account 311xx in the current period is Debit 1,000 and Credit 500, the internal document will contain two lines. Opening balances for cash accounts 211xx and bank accounts 221xx are created by generating opening movements instead of internal documents and are included in the opening balances through initialization.
Cash Registers
Cash Receipts and Expenditures - this involves migrating non-accounting documents as purely non-accounting historical data
What the migration does not include
As already mentioned, the data migration does not include all ABRA GEN data. ABRA GEN must be retained as a read-only backup for purposes such as tax authority audits, historical lookups, and similar needs.
The bridge does not transfer:
Payroll and HR agenda (employees, payroll, etc.)
Asset management agenda
Warehouse movements
Inquiries, Quotes, Contracts, and their code lists
Manufacturing
Reports
Any accounting records other than those listed above
Additionally, all company settings must be completed — including all company details, legislative configuration, and much more. All relevant information can be found in our documentation.
Interested in migration?
The effort required from our consultant is typically 4–8 hours depending on the volume of data per accounting entity. The hourly rate is listed in the price list on our website (section "Training, service intervention").
